Bernardo Vega was an illustrated tobacco worker who through of community organizations and unions promoted the economical, political and social well being of Hispanic workers in New York. In 1977, the publication of his memoirs brought into discussion, the forgotten aspects of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean from the perspective of one of the largest human migrations of the 20th Century: the relocation of Puerto Ricans to the United States. During his time in New York, he dedicated himself to rescue, preserve and disseminate the lives of Hispanic leaders.
